In-Person Bellwood Memorial Feedback Session

  • This events has passed.

Join us in a feedback session to help uncover and preserve our collective history.

At the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, our Truth + Transformation Program works to unearth a more comprehensive and honest account of our history to heal our communities and transform society. One example of this work is our complicated history of forced labor after slavery was abolished. Atlanta was rebuilt after the Civil War – brick by brick – through a system of forced labor and convict leasing at Chattahoochee Brick Company and Bellwood Quarry. The Center is working with others to help tell that history and commemorate those not recognized for their contributions to this city.

Community feedback sessions will help guide us on telling this story.

These are open to the public, and we invite you to share with anyone you think might have a perspective we need to hear.  Registration is required, attendance at every session is not. Lunch is provided and if needed, we are offering a $100 honorarium for justice-impacted participants who need to take off work to attend. Reach out to us at [email protected] directly if that’s you.

Register now to be a part of this process and help us honor the past while working toward a better future.
